Playa Grande in the centre of the resort, and Playa de Los Pocillos, nearer to the airport. There is also a small beach in the old town, Playa Chica, which is ideal for snorkelling.
The main beaches have sunbeds and umbrellas to hire as well as pedallos, and in the old town there are jetskis for rent, banana rides, parasailing and also a couple of dive schools.
The beachfront of Puerto del Carmen has a promenade that runs from the old town, all the way down to Matagorda, (about 7km away), and on as far as the capital, Arrecife. There are plenty of shops, bars and restaurants all the way along, so you will never go thirsty, hungry, or run out of places to shop. The main nightlife is in the “Centro Atlantico” where you can party till dawn in the discos, sing along in the live music bars, or give your own performance at the karaoke bars. If wild partying is not your thing, then you can find smaller more intimate bars in the old town and along the seafront. You will definately be spoiled for choice.
There are an abundance of restaurants ranging from Italian, Chinese, Typical Canarian Tapas bars, through to fish and chips and “English” food, if you prefer. Buses run regularly from Puerto del Carmen to Arrecife and Costa Teguise, and there are also a couple a day to Playa Blanca if you fancy seeing a couple of other resorts. Car hire companies are plentiful and competitively priced if you fancy being a bit more adventurous.
In the pretty harbour of the old town, you will find some fabulous fish restaurants, and from here you can jump on one of the high speed catamarans that run daily between Lanzarote and Fuerteventura which is only a 45 minute crossing. Taxis in and around the resort will cost between 2&3 euros.
